Every cookie and piece of browser storage VotePoll uses, what it is for and how long it lasts.

In short

VotePoll uses a small number of necessary, first-party cookies and a little browser session storage. They are listed below.
Analytics: not currently used. VotePoll sets no analytics cookies and loads no analytics service.
Advertising: not currently used. VotePoll currently does not use advertising cookies or third-party advertising services.
No third-party scripts, fonts or tracking pixels are loaded by VotePoll's pages, and VotePoll does not use browser fingerprinting.

Because only necessary technology is in use, there is currently nothing optional to accept or reject, so VotePoll does not show a consent banner. Open cookie settings to see the current status of each category. If analytics or advertising is ever introduced, it will be off until you allow it, you will be asked first, and you will be able to change or withdraw your choice from the same "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.

Necessary technologies are required for core VotePoll functionality and cannot be disabled in cookie settings. You can still delete or block them in your browser; the features that rely on them will then stop working as described below.

Cookies VotePoll sets

All of these are first-party cookies set by VotePoll itself (the site you are on), sent only over HTTPS and limited to same-site use (SameSite=Lax).

It lets a poll apply its creator's repeat-voting rule (for example one response per browser), show you your own earlier response, let you edit it where the poll allows that, and show results that are only available after voting. `vp_session` and its signature `vp_session.sig`	Keeps you logged in to your creator account (it holds the account's internal id, not your email or name) and remembers which password-protected polls you have unlocked, so you are not asked for the password on every request. The site administrator's login uses the same cookie. It is signed so it cannot be altered, and it is not readable by scripts.	When you log in, or unlock a password-protected poll.	Up to 12 hours. `vp_creator`	A random, signed id that lets "Manage my polls" and the poll pages recognise this browser as the creator of polls made without an account. It is not readable by scripts. `vp_consent`	Would remember your cookie choices: a version number and an on/off value for Analytics and for Advertising — nothing else. It has to be readable by VotePoll's own script, because that script is what decides whether an optional technology may load.	Only when you make a choice about optional categories. Browser storage

VotePoll does not use local storage. It uses session storage — which belongs to one browser tab and is erased when that tab is closed — for two things, both first-party and necessary for managing a poll:

vp-manage-token:<poll id> — when you open a poll's private management link, the secret from that link is kept for the tab so that the "Edit poll" page can prove you are the creator.
vp-edit-saved:<poll id> — a one-time marker so the management page can confirm that your edit was saved. It is removed as soon as it has been shown.

An unsent answer on a password-protected poll is kept only in the open page's memory while you re-enter the password; it is not written to any storage.

Cloudflare

VotePoll is reached through Cloudflare, which acts as a reverse proxy in front of the site (HTTPS and protection against abusive traffic). Cloudflare handles every request as part of that role, and it may use its own security checks or cookies — for example if it shows a security challenge — and asks browsers to report network errors to it. These are operated by Cloudflare for security and reliability, not by VotePoll's own code, and VotePoll does not use them for analytics or advertising.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Deleting vp_session logs you out and re-locks password-protected polls; deleting vp_creator means this browser no longer lists polls you created without an account; deleting vp_device means VotePoll no longer recognises earlier responses from this browser.
