A poll: one quick question
A poll asks one question — sometimes two or three — to reach a decision or take the temperature of a group. It takes seconds to answer, and the result is usually a clear winner.
- “Which date should we hold the summer party?”
- “Pizza or sushi for Friday?”
- “Which of these three logo drafts do you prefer?” (a picture poll)

A survey: several questions about one topic
A survey collects opinions or information on one topic through several questions, often of different types: ratings, multiple choice and a few open text answers. You read the results question by question, and often export them to a spreadsheet.
- Feedback after an event or a training session.
- An employee or customer satisfaction survey.
- A team retrospective at the end of a project.
In VotePoll a survey is a poll with up to 25 questions; longer ones can be split into sections shown page by page. See the survey maker.
A quiz or test: questions with correct answers
A quiz has right and wrong answers. Each response gets a score, and participants may see their score and the correct answers — straight away for a practice quiz, or only after the quiz closes for a formal test.
- A practice quiz at the end of a lesson.
- A short knowledge check after onboarding or training.
- A pub-quiz round with friends.
In VotePoll, choose the Quiz / Test mode when you create the poll. See the quiz maker and the guide to making a classroom quiz.
And scheduling?
Finding a time is a special kind of poll: everyone marks every time that works, and the result is the time most people can make. VotePoll has a Meeting question type for it — see how to find a meeting time with a poll.
